Celebrating AAPI Heritage Month: A Conversation with Author Hena Khan
Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with children’s book author Hena Khan, author of Amina’s Voice and It’s Ramadan, Curious George! This conversation, hosted by MAEC’s Collaborative Action for Family Engagement (CAFE), will include an interview with Ms. Khan, an interactive activity with the audience, and Q&A with the author. Audience members will leave with activities to facilitate with their children or students around Ms. Khan’s young children and middle grade books.

MAEC’s webinar will:
- Engage families and students in activities that build literacy and communications skills.
- Expand participants’ social and cultural awareness of AAPI and Islamic traditions.

Hena Khan is an award winning Pakistani American children’s author. Her middle grade novel Amina’s Voice was named a Best Book of 2017 by the Washington Post, Kirkus Reviews, NPR, and others. She is the author of the Zayd Saleem: Chasing the Dream series, and More to the Story. Hena has written several acclaimed picture books including Golden Domes and Silver Lanterns, Night of the Moon, It’s Ramadan Curious George, Crescent Moons and Pointed Minarets, Under My Hijab and Like the Moon Loves the Sky.
