Title IX: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
In 2021, Title IX and gender equity are coming to the top of the list for PreK-12 Title IX Coordinators, educators, and administrators. Gender equity hinges on their understanding of the impacts of Title IX and the new Final Rule. What is the Final Rule, and what new responsibilities do schools have? What changes around gender equity might we expect under the incoming administration regarding the law, policies, and practices?

Join MAEC on Wednesday, February 10, 2-3:30 pm (ET) for a conversation with our Title IX experts on the history and future of Title IX, the new regulations and their impact on responses to sexual harassment, and the nuances of navigating cultural differences under Title IX. This webinar is for PreK-12 Title IX Coordinators, administrators, and educators.

This webinar will:
- Increase awareness of the new roles and responsibilities of the PreK-12 Title IX Coordinator at the school, district, and state level.
- Build the capacity of PreK-12 Title IX Coordinators, administrators, and educators to comply with Title IX regulations.
- Develop an understanding of the spirit of Title IX and its intersections with cultural competence for PreK-12 schools and communities.

Speakers include:
- Bill Howe: Former Connecticut State Title IX Coordinator; President of Multicultural Dimensions
- Phyllis Lerner: Former Educational Equity Consultant, Project SEE (Sex Equity in Education) California Department of Education 1979-1991; National Trainer GESA (Gender and Ethnic Expectation and Student Achievement) 1993-1995
-Shiwali Patel: Director of Justice for Student Survivors & Senior Counsel, National Women’s Law Center
-Marianna Stepniak (Facilitator): Program & Communications Associate, MAEC; developed MAEC’s Title IX Regulations Series
