The Summer Bridge - Supporting Students Experiencing Homelessness
The school year is over. What will happen to our students who are experiencing homelessness and how can we help prepare them for next year?

In this webinar, the first in our summer series, we look at homeless education and summer supports for students and families. We will be joined by homeless education experts, an out of school time (OST) provider, and other service providers who work to ensure that students who experience homelessness have equitable access to the resources they need to be successful.

Participants will be able to:

(1) Define homeless education
(2) Understand the challenges and changes that have impacted students and families who experience homelessness in the midst of COVID
(3) Become familiar with services and resources available to students who experience homelessness, including McKinney-Vento Coordinators for families and students
(4) Identify resources and tools that support students and families who experience homelessness

MAEC’s Collaborative Action for Family Engagement (CAFE) and the Center for Education Equity (CEE) present "Are ALL the Children Well?" A four-part homeless education and family engagement webinar series. This series will raise awareness about students who experience homelessness and provide resources and guidance for working with schools, families, and communities.

Join us as we demystify supports available for out of school time (OST) service providers, review strategies to ensure the preservation of dignity while advocating for students, and audit district-, school-, and community-based practices to ensure equitable access.

Topics in the series include summer support, advocacy for LGBTQIA+ students and their families, state- and district-level partnerships, and community and team partnerships.
